SUP Fitness - Skills & Drills

Looking for an outdoor fitness fix with a difference? Well look no further, as Outdoor Concepts team up with Claire from FitclubNI to bring you this amazing, new outdoor fitness programme based on land and water. Get ready to be challenged, your core worked hard, your mind focused and your heart rate raised - with lots of fun and laughter along the way!

We understand not being able to get to the gym or your usual fitness class has been frustating over the past few months. So we decided to combine the unique fitness benefits of stand up paddle boarding with a fun, focused and energising workout on an island on Strangford Lough. We'll awaken some muscle groups with resistance bands, work on bodyweight strength and finish with core and balance. This will suit all fitness levels and everyone will get a copy of the drills to take home. 

So what can I expect throughout the 3 hour session?

We will begin on the paddle boards - learning the skills to be able to paddle out to one of the many islands on Strangford Lough. This will be fun and will provide a good warmup for the intensity later on. As we paddle together you will begin to exerience how good a workout stand up paddle boarding is just by itself, with your core in particular working hard. 

After an hour on the water we will stop off on one of the many islands on Strangford Lough. The next hour will be land based with plenty of drills followed by some fresh fruit. 

For the final part of the programme we will be back on the boards working hard with some games and races. 

As the session comes to an end you will be able to relax and stretch on your board and understand the true benefits of the past few hours - the combination of body and mind as well as the enjoyment of nature and the elements. 

We are currently keeping our group sizes to a maximum of 8 participants. Strict social distancing protocols are in place. Therefore there are a limited number of boards, so get booked in early to avoid disappointment. We will be touch with you closer to the time to tell you where your launch location on Strangford will be.

These sessions are designed for participants aged 18+. 
We provide all specialist equipment - board, wetsuit and buoyancy aid
